Update tax file number

How do I update my Tax File Number?
You can update your Tax File Number in Online or Mobile Banking.

To update it in the St.George App
1. Login to your app
2. Click on Services in the bottom menu
3. Under My Details, click on Provide Tax File Number.
To update it on your desktop
1. Login to Internet Banking
2. Click on My details and settings in the left hand menu
3. Under My Information, select Provide Tax File Number.
Why do I need to provide my Tax File Number?

A Tax File Number (also known as a TFN) is your personal reference number issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to identify you for tax purposes.

Each time you open an account that earns interest for example a savings account, you’ll be asked to provide your TFN. It is not compulsory to provide a TFN when opening an account, however if you choose not to provide your TFN, we may be required by law to deduct tax at the highest marginal tax rate plus the Medicare Levy from interest earned on the account.
I need to update a Tax File Number (TFN) for my child or an account where I am a signatory/Power of Attorney, how do I update their information?
I've been charged Withholding Tax; how can I stop this from happening and recover the funds?

To avoid withholding tax, please ensure that you have added your Tax File Number (TFN) to your account information. If this is a joint account, the other account holder will also need to add their details.

In the case that your TFN has ready been provided, if you are meant to be exempt or if this is for a child's account that you are signatory on, you will need to contact us on 13 33 30 for your options or visit your local branch.
