Adding someone you trust as an additional cardholder could be a good way to share your credit card perks, all while sticking to one account. They’ll get their own card and can use it anywhere your card works. If you have a rewards card, you could increase your rewards points earned when your additional cardholder spends. The credit limit of the primary cardholder will be shared between the additional cardholder and primary cardholder.
Who can be an additional cardholder?
- To add an extra cardholder, they need to be over 16 years old
- You can add one additional cardholder to your personal credit card account

Who's responsible for the card?
As the primary cardholder, you’re responsible for any transactions made with the additional card. This includes paying for all transactions made by the additional cardholder. This means you’ll cover all charges, as outlined in your card’s terms and conditions, and be responsible for both cardholders remaining within the shared credit limit.
What the additional cardholder needs to know
The additional cardholder will receive a card in their name, linked to your account. They’ll need to follow the same terms and conditions as you.
With their card, they can:
- Make purchases and get cash advances
- Create a unique PIN
- View the account in Online Banking
Please note that additional cardholders can’t redeem or query rewards account information.
Removing an additional cardholder
To cancel an additional card, just follow the simple steps below:
- Notify us to cancel or put a stop on the card
- Destroy the card by cutting it up and dispose of it securely
