St.George redesigns full service banking app for customers
St.George Bank’s world-first fingerprint logon technology has been awarded Best Mobile Phone Banking Initiative for ‘User Controlled Security Management’ in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa in The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services International Awards for 2015.
Earlier this month, St.George’s innovative and market leading fingerprint technology also took out the top spot in the Security and Fraud Management category at the Financial Insights Innovation 2015 Awards in Singapore.
Dhiren Kulkarni, St.George CIO said St.George is proud to be recognised on the international stage for delivering a world-first service that resonates so well with its customers and industry peers.
“It was the vision of our CEO George Frazis, who believed biometric technology was the way forward to help deliver on our goal to be number one in mobility. Receiving the international awards is a great testament that our mobile-only strategy is really hitting the mark.”
Travis Tyler, Head of Mobile at St.George said the biometric technology gives St.George customers more choice and faster and more secure ways to do their mobile banking at the touch of a finger.
“Since the launch in September last year, more than 60,000 customers have embraced fingerprint logon and the number is expected to rise as more compatible smartphones hit the market.”
Fingerprint logon is available for all St.George customers via their mobile banking app which has been recently redesigned to deliver a full service banking experience for customers anywhere, anytime.
“The new app has been transformed from a payments solution to creating a full service banking experience. Along with fingerprint logon, other functions like Temporary Card Block and Quick Pay also offer our customers more of their bank on their mobile.
“Since the app launched earlier this month there’s been a spike in usage of all of the added value services available in the app. The latest data below shows how our customers are making the most of the new app to stay in control and get more out of their money,” Travis added.
St.George new mobile banking app usage stats

Dhiren added, “Just like our world-first fingerprint logon technology, the new app is designed to put customers in control as more people bank on the go.
