St.George Bank announced today that it is committed to helping customers who are impacted by the ACT Government Buyback Scheme of houses affected by Mr Fluffy loose fill asbestos insulation.

St George will waive any bank fees and charges for customers who will be participating in the buyback scheme and the bank has set up a dedicated a hotline which customers can call to discuss their situation and options. The hotline number is 1800 630 487.  

St George Head of ACT, Glenn Trewhella said: “We understand the financial and emotional impact on our customers who have ‘Mr Fluffy’ homes and are committed to providing practical solutions to help them. 

“Every customer’s situation will be different and their needs will vary, however at the very minimum we will be relinquishing any fees and charges associated with participating in the buyback scheme, including waiving administration fees, break costs, and providing reduced rates for bridging finance. 

“We are already in discussions with customers with Mr Fluffy homes that we are aware of and encouraging other customers to contact us either by the hotline or visiting their local branch to arrange an appointment with the lending manager, so they can talk through their specific circumstances with us.”
